How can I use cheat codes in Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic?

So I read a lot of paragraphs on it and when I get up. Ini file and edit it with "EnableCheats = 1", but for some reason will not let me save the file to use. I wonder if I'm doing something wrong or if I'm doing something right and not follow through enough. Could someone please help me, preferably someone who has successfully used codes tricks in the game or know how to use them. NOTE: This is for the PC version of the game. Do not play it on an Xbox.

Why not try KSE-333 (editor of stars Kotor war), you can find online. After installation, you can choose one of the save, then you can change everything, (I mean everything), or add an item to your inventory. The latest version I have is KSE-333, but is old, I downloaded it 2 years ago.
